South by Southwest is a convergence of technology, film, music and culture across downtown Austin, regularly drawing well over 100,000 participants from more than 100 countries. SXSW 2027 runs March 15-21, with the Innovation Conference March 15-20, Film & TV and Music across the full span, and the Comedy Festival March 17-20. Badges are sold by track, and a badge buys priority in a queue rather than a guaranteed seat: popular sessions, screenings and showcases fill, and secondary entry lines exist for those without the matching badge type. Programming runs in hotels, theatres and bars spread across downtown, so walking time between venues shapes what is realistically attendable.
