About this conference
IMTS, the International Manufacturing Technology Show, is the largest manufacturing technology trade show in the Western Hemisphere and runs at McCormick Place only in even-numbered years, so 2026 is an on-year. The floor is dominated by working machine tools running live demonstrations — metal cutting, additive manufacturing, automation, metrology and Industry 4.0 systems — which is what separates it from conferences where the technology is described rather than operated. Attendance is free to register, though the scale means most visitors plan specific booth routes rather than browsing. The audience is manufacturers, production engineers, shop owners and technology providers from around the world. Six days is unusually long for a trade show; many attendees come for two or three targeted days rather than the full run.
